Senior Community Center of Owensboro-Daviess County
We are a senior activity center serving Daviess Counties. We deliver all the meals on wheels for Daviess County, as well as serve congregate lunches at six locations throughout. We offer a variety of services from transportation, recreation, health promotion (exercise classes, workout room, yoga, Zumba, health education, etc.) education, (computers, smart phones, and tablets, Spanish, pain management, balance training, cooking, finance, and crafts). We offer counseling services through a contract with a behavioral health agency, and even assistance with government entitlements and benefits. There is no fee for our services, only a suggested donation.

1. What type of volunteer do you need?
We welcome all ages and groups of volunteers )above the age of 12 without an adult, but any age which is accompanied by an adult.) 2. Hours and days you need volunteers? How much time does a volunteer need to commit? We can utilize volunteers based on that volunteers' schedule. We have a variety of times and tasks available to fit any schedule. There is no minimum requirement of hours - they can serve as few or as many hours as they would prefer. 3. Annual or Special Events you need volunteers? Number of volunteers needed. Yes! We have one large fundraiser each year and can always use volunteers to assist on that committee for a variety of tasks, either in planning, fundraising, auction item solicitation, tear down and set up, mailings, making phone calls, etc. We will turn no one away! 4. Are there requirements for the volunteer? Background checks are required for folks visiting clients in their homes, driving our vehicles, or dealing with financial information. Children under the age of 12 will need an adult to serve along side him or her. 5. Describe the different type of volunteer opportunities your organization would offer. There are a variety of opportunities, such as clerical, telephoning, visiting clients, cleaning, special events, organizing, greeters, meal drivers, transportation drivers, marketing, newsletter writing, mailings, reception, gift shop cashier. |
Audubon Area Community Services Senior Companion/ Foster Grandparent
Our programs are apart of the AmeriCorps Seniors programs through Audubon Area Community Services. Our programs are for seniors 55+ who would like to volunteer in their community. Each program is different so we have something for everyone.

We need volunteers ages 55+ who would like to volunteer in their community. 2. Hours and days you need volunteers? Four hours a day 5 days a week 3. Are there requirements for the volunteer? Must pass a background check and undergo training. Will have to have photo ID and be 55+5. 4. Describe the different type of volunteer opportunities your organization would offer. Depending on which program the volunteer is in they could either volunteer in the school system, sitting with the elderly, or within the community at local nonprofits. |

RSVP Volunteers can be anyone 55 and older. 2. Hours and days you need volunteers? Volunteers choose the days, times and amount of hours they wish to serve. 3. Describe the different type of volunteer opportunities your organization would offer. Audubon Area RSVP serves seven counties: Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union and Webster. We currently have 33 nonprofit stations in a variety of settings which include elementary schools, food pantries, hospitals, disaster relief sites, thrift stores, in home respite, home building, a Veterans' Clinic, tax prep sites, children's camp, and even serve from your home. Job duties include clerical, driving, respite care, flower arranging, sorting and organizing, sitting with the ill, landscaping, assisting disaster victims, packing food boxes, aiding the poor, the hungry, tutoring children,quilting, plus encouraging, showing love and a smile to those in need.
