Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Kentucky
Our mission as Hospice is to provide high quality physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and comforting care to individuals and their families living with a limited life expectancy. Volunteers run errands and assist a patient or family member with many other basic activities. Occasionally, when a caregiver needs to leave the house for a short time, a volunteer stays with the patient so the caregiver knows that their loved one is not alone while they are away. Volunteers carefully listen to both patient and family, whether in the patient’s own home, in an assisted-living facility, or in a nursing home. Hospice volunteers also provide support to the families for up to thirteen months following a patient’s death. Other volunteers play an integral role behind the scenes at Hospice. Each volunteer receives a job description detailing expectations for the assigned position.
