Team Karlie’s mission is to provide young people with physical disabilities the use of a special jogging stroller so they can participate in the sport of running. Team Karlie wants others who can’t walk and run to experience the energy and excitement of racing. Those with physical disabilities often feel frustrated by their limited mobility. The sport of running is something these young people would not be able to experience without the use of the special jogging strollers and the runners who push the strollers also experience a joy they won’t soon forget. Our motto is: “Nothing is impossible with a willing heart!” http://www.teamkarlie.com/ |

1. What type of volunteer do you need?
We are open to almost any kind of volunteer. We have community groups who work with us, as well as individual volunteers. We work with people for one time events & for ongoing volunteer assignments. Because of the nature of our facility, most of our volunteers must be 16 years or older. 2. Hours and days you need volunteers? How much time does a volunteer need to commit? We are very flexible on our volunteer schedules. We can use people on weekdays, weeknights, & weekends. Depending on the nature of the volunteer activity, the time requirement will vary. Our "typical" volunteers (called "community companions") volunteer for 1-1.5 hours once per week. We will work with you to find a volunteer schedule that fits your life! 3. Annual or Special Events you need volunteers? We are always open to planning & hosting special events for our residents. If you are interested in hosting a concert or leading an arts & crafts event, we would love to have you. We are always looking for groups to help host special holiday events for our residents as well! 4. Are there requirements for the volunteer? Our volunteers are required to do the following: -Complete a Volunteer Application & Interview -Complete a Background Check -Complete a TB Skin Test -Complete a 3-hour Volunteer Orientation (This requirement depends on the volunteer position filled.) *Volunteers under 18 will need parental permission to complete the Background Check & TB Skin Test. We typically do not accept volunteers under the age of 16. **Please Note: The above requirements do not apply to most "one-time event" volunteers (e.g.: Concert volunteers would not need to complete the above process.) 5. Describe the different type of volunteer opportunities your organization would offer. Our most common type of volunteer is called a "Community Companion." Community Companions are essentially "friendships" that we arrange based upon common interests between a volunteer & our service recipient. Other volunteer opportunities include support services for our organization (maintenance, laundry, office work, etc...) or special events (concerts, movie nights, game nights, arts & crafts, etc...). 6. How will you communicate to the volunteer? The volunteer coordinator is available by phone, text, or email. 7. Volunteer Application Volunteer Application |
